FAQs

  • What type of clients do you service?

I have had the privelage of working with a diverse range of clients presenting with a variety of behavioral and emotional challenges. I have the most experience working with young men and male teens, neurodivergent people (ADHD and autism) and athletes working to improve their performance in their sport.

  • What are your fees?

This is a conversation I have with prospective clients during our free initial phone consultation, as different treatment types and length determine fees. My fees range is $180-$250 per session. Fees are determined based on clinical needs as no two cases are the same. I do take into consideration the client’s financial situation, and do offer a sliding scale for limited clients. Payment plans can also be established. I accept cash, check, credit cards, Zelle. I also accept most HSA and FSA plans. Please contact me for questions on fees.

  • How long are sessions?

The initial session is an intake, which takes about 60-75 minutes. This session is important as it gathers all of the background information about the client(s), presenting concerns, and past experiences. This session allows for the client and I to create reasonable therapy goals, establish a working relationship, and create a foundation for intervention. Ensuing therapy sessions are 50 minutes in length.

  • Do you offer online, remote, or video services?

Absolutely! I am professionally trained to conduct web-based video and telephone therapy. My license covers all of California, Arizona and Ohio, so I can see clients anywhere in those state.

  • AREN'T PEOPLE WHO GO TO THERAPY WEAK?

I would argue that those who make the decision to come to therapy are showing strength and courage in tackling a complex situation compared to choosing to let it fester into something much more malignant. There is power in admitting that one needs support.

  • What's the difference between talking to you or my best friend or family?

A mental health professional can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills, gain different perspectives, listen to you without judgment or expectations, and help you listen to yourself. Furthermore, counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing my business.” Lastly, if your situation elicits a great deal of negative emotion, and you’ve been confiding in a friend or family member, there is the risk that once you are feeling better you could start avoiding that person so you aren’t reminded of this difficult time in your life.

  • DO YOU OFFER ONLINE, REMOTE, OR VIDEO SERVICES?

I am flexible to the client’s individual needs and circumstance. Many people prefer the face-to-face nature of counseling because they feel more can be accomplished. However, I am professionally trained to conduct web-based video and telephone therapy with similar success. My license covers all of California, Arizona and Ohio, so I can see clients anywhere in those state.

  • How long will it take?

Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Everyone’s circumstances are unique to them and the length of time counseling can take to allow you to accomplish your goals depends on your desire for personal development, your commitment, and the factors that are driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

  • I want to get the most our of therapy. What can I do to help?

I am so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation and dedication will be crucial to your success. Following our treatment plan within and outside of therapy, utilizing skills to problem solve and self-regulate complex emotions, and attending scheduled sessions proves effective in one’s therapeutic journey.
